After a quick worldwide rollout in the UK and South Korea, the much-awaited One UI 8 Beta Program is now live for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Based on the Android 16 foundation, the beta version provides exclusive users with an early glimpse of the upcoming generation of Samsung’s software experience.
One UI 8 Beta slots fill up quickly
The anticipation for One UI 8 has been nothing short of huge. The beta program, which is also available to the Galaxy S24 lineup, appears to be a hot item, with initial reports indicating that the available spots are already taken. That left only the fastest and most loyal fans being able to get in on trying out the new firmware. The update, which is a whopping 3GB in size, is a testament to how much it shakes up the user interface. It also contains the August 2025 security patch, getting participants on the current security protocols.
For the few individuals who enrolled, the process of installation is straightforward: after enrolling using the Samsung Members app, the update is downloadable directly from the phone’s software update menu. The early access allows users to experiment with a new set of features and enhancements.
One UI 8 brings with it a variety of enhancements, from more intuitive and dynamic multitasking functionality to a new, simplified user interface for fundamental apps such as Quick Share. The update also delivers some major backend enhancements, such as an improved and more secure version of the Secure Folder that’s now built on top of Android’s built-in Private Space feature.
This beta release is just the beginning. The program will expand to additional devices, such as the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5 next month. For now, a limited number of users with the latest foldable phones will get to experience the future of One UI first, providing valuable feedback that will make the final, stable version even better.
