One UI 8 Beta is coming to the Galaxy S23 series

Samsung, as planned, is getting ready to bring its Android 16-based One UI 8 Beta Program to additional devices. Having launched the beta for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 pair successfully, all indications are that the much-awaited beta launch for the Galaxy S23 series, namely the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra, is imminent. A firmware sighting on Samsung’s server recently attests that the software is in the process of being internally tested, a key precursor to public release.

What to expect in the next One UI 8 beta?

The initial beta build of One UI 8 for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which was noticed by tipster Tarun Vats, has the firmware version S918BXXU8ZYH7. This indicates that Samsung is on schedule to roll out the software to its 2023 flagships in September, as the company publicly revealed.

The One UI 8 upgrade from One UI 7 isn’t as significant as previous upgrades but includes essential changes. Combined with the previous enhancements to Galaxy AI features such as Audio Eraser and Generative Edit, the beta includes subtle but notable design tweaks to the Quick Panel and a new Quick Share. Call Captions and Real-Time Text are also set to be included as new features, which will enhance the user experience.

Recent beta versions of the Galaxy S24 range have also given an insight into some of the other innovations, including the new “adaptive clock” on the lock screen that automatically adjusts its position and style to suit the wallpaper. Beta software can, however, include bugs. Some early beta testers have already reported a few problems with the camera, including a “purple tint” on highly zoomed photos, which Samsung is busily fixing.

The beta program for the Galaxy S23 series will be offered in certain countries, such as South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. The users in these countries will be able to register through the Samsung Members app to experience the new features early and give useful feedback to the company. The official public release of the stable One UI 8 update will arrive on the Galaxy S25 series in September, with the other qualifying devices, such as the Galaxy S23 series, following in the weeks and months to come.
