Galaxy S26 series reportedly sticks to slower charging speeds

Samsung’s latest move with the Galaxy S26 series isn’t exactly turning heads, at least not for the right reasons. Based on recent certification details out of China, it looks like the Galaxy S26 Pro and Galaxy S26 Edge are capped at 25W charging, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra holds steady at 45W. That’s more or less the same as last year. Not exactly the bold innovation the market’s hungry for, especially as rivals push for ever-faster charging speeds.

Galaxy S26 series charging speeds remain unchanged

Let’s be real: the competition, particularly brands from China, is way ahead on this front. Many flagship phones are now boasting over 100W charging. Even Apple, known for its cautious approach, is rumored to lift the bar with 40W fast charging on the iPhone 17 series. Meanwhile, Samsung’s strategy seems stubbornly conservative, prioritizing battery longevity and safety over speed. That’s understandable, but consumers expect progress, especially in the premium segment.

Charging tech isn’t the only pain point for Samsung users, either. There’s ongoing frustration around the company’s habit of reusing the same camera sensors year after year, giving the impression of incremental, not breakthrough updates.

While the official Galaxy S26 series launch is still a few months away, the recent certification leaves little room for those hoping global variants might offer better specs. Realistically, if the Chinese market, where top specs usually debut, isn’t getting a speed boost, it’s unlikely others will, either.

For now, Samsung appears content to let rivals win on charging speed, instead banking on its reputation for reliability. Time will tell how that bet pays off in a fast-moving market.
