Galaxy Watch Ultra receives stable One UI 8 Watch Update

Samsung has officially begun rolling out the stable version of One UI 8 Watch to select models of its Galaxy Watch Ultra, marking a significant step forward in the company’s wearable software experience. The update, which is based on Google’s Wear OS 6, brings several design improvements, new health-related features, and enhanced performance across the board.

Galaxy Watch Ultra joins the update rollout

Originally, the new One UI 8 Watch was pre-installed only on the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) and the Galaxy Watch8 series. However, as of July 22, 2025, the 2024 edition of the Galaxy Watch Ultra has officially started receiving the update.

The firmware version L705USQU1BYFE has been spotted in the United States, with a package size of around 1.95GB. While the rollout has started in specific regions, Samsung has not yet provided a timeline for when the update will become available in other countries.

Key features of One UI 8 Watch

The new One UI 8 Watch update focuses on three core areas: interface design, health tracking, and system optimization. It continues Samsung’s trend of aligning closely with Google’s wearable platform, but with its own unique enhancements.

Revamped interface design

One of the standout improvements in One UI 8 Watch is its redesigned user interface. The new layout is cleaner, more organized, and makes better use of the circular display. The addition of new customizable widgets allows users to access frequently used apps and information more quickly than before.

The watch face gallery has also received improvements, offering more interactive elements and real-time preview features. This makes it easier for users to personalize their experience according to their lifestyle and needs.

Advanced health features

Health tracking continues to be a central focus in Samsung’s smartwatch ecosystem. The One UI 8 Watch adds four new health features, although Samsung has not disclosed the full list yet. However, early testers have reported improvements in sleep tracking accuracy, heart rate monitoring, and stress analysis.

A new multi-day activity summary feature has also been introduced, giving users a broader view of their fitness patterns and helping them make better decisions based on long-term trends.

Performance and battery optimization

In addition to new features, Samsung has optimized the system’s responsiveness. Animations now load faster, and navigating through menus feels smoother and more fluid. The update also includes background enhancements that aim to improve battery efficiency, especially when using GPS and health tracking features simultaneously.

Some users in early rollout regions have already reported noticeable gains in battery life after installing the update, especially in power-saving modes.

What users should know?

The update is currently limited to the US version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, but it’s expected to expand to other markets soon. As always, users are advised to ensure their watch has sufficient battery life and is connected to Wi-Fi before initiating the update.

Samsung has not yet released the update timeline for international users, but if previous rollouts are any indication, a global release should follow within a few weeks.
