Samsung is pushing ahead with its software support for the latest generation of foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, with a new update that introduces two practical new features. The update, which is currently rolling out to users in South Korea, also includes the latest security patch for September 2025.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are receiving new features with the latest One UI 8 update
The new firmware versions for the update are F766NKSU4AYI1 for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and F966NKSU4AYI1 for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Both packages are substantial in size, clocking in at over 700MB, indicating that they bring more than just minor fixes. The new features focus on enhancing key aspects of the Samsung ecosystem: the Now Bar and Samsung DeX.
The first new feature is the integration of Google Finance into the Now Bar. This allows users who have added stocks to their Google Finance list to receive notifications and updates directly on their Now Bar when a significant price change occurs. This provides a quick and efficient way for investors and market watchers to stay on top of their portfolios without needing to open a separate app.
The second, and arguably more significant, feature is the new ability to add widgets to the home screen in Samsung DeX mode. This has been a long-requested feature from the user community, as it brings a level of customization and at-a-glance information that was previously missing. Users can now place informative widgets like calendars and clocks, as well as decorative widgets like image galleries, directly on their DeX desktop. This greatly enhances the desktop-like experience, making it easier to see important data without having to open an application.
While this update is currently limited to South Korea, it’s a positive sign for users in other regions. Samsung typically uses its home market as a testing ground for new features before a wider, global rollout. Users of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 can check for the update manually by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. As this update is expected to arrive in other countries soon, it’s worth keeping an eye out for its arrival.
