The major addition dubbed “Scroll and Translate” addresses a longstanding usability issue. Prior versions required users to reactivate translation after each scroll or app switch, which was inefficient for anyone reading continuous foreign-language content.
Google is improving Circle To Search with Scroll and Translate
Now, with Scroll and Translate enabled, translation remains persistent as users navigate content, whether that’s scrolling through web pages, social media feeds, or switching between apps. Activation is straightforward: long-press the home button or navigation bar, tap the Translate icon, and then select the new “Scroll and translate” option. Once active, users will notice a glowing border and a pill-shaped overlay indicating the feature’s operational status.
Strategically, Google is deploying this new capability first to select Samsung Galaxy models, continuing a trend established with the initial Circle to Search launch. The move solidifies Samsung’s position as a key early-access partner for Google’s Android feature rollouts. Although Google hasn’t released a precise device list, it’s likely that flagship models such as the Galaxy Z, Galaxy S, and Galaxy Tab S series will be the first to receive support. Broader availability for additional Android devices is expected in subsequent phases.
For end users, especially those who frequently encounter multilingual content, this update delivers a significant improvement in workflow efficiency and user experience. The continuous, real-time translation removes previous friction points, making Circle to Search a much more integrated and powerful tool within the Android ecosystem.
