The premium smartphone segment is set for a thrilling new era, with Huawei and Samsung both said to be planning to release their revolutionary Tri-Fold smartphones in September. This widely rumored simultaneous launch will reportedly set up intense competition in the high-end segment, as the two technology leaders showcase their newest innovations in foldable technology.
The debut of these Tri-fold, highly sophisticated devices represents a remarkable advance in mobile technology, stretching the possibilities in smartphone design and capabilities. Such timely releases suggest a direct showdown for market leadership, as each brand marshals its particular technological strengths to take center stage and win over select tech aficionados and early adopters looking for the next level of mobile computing.
Unveiling the Contenders: Huawei’s “Greenlan” vs. Samsung’s “Galaxy Z Tri-Fold”
Prominent industry source Smart Pikachu posted on Weibo that Huawei and Samsung’s upcoming Tri-Fold phones are due around September. The simultaneous release will pit their flagship foldable offerings against each other in the ultimate showdown in the global premium segment.
Huawei’s “Greenlan”: Performance and Aesthetics
The next Tri-Fold device by Huawei, codenamed “Greenlan,” is said to use the Kirin 9020 processor for its domestic Chinese model. This shows the continuation of Huawei’s dedication to its in-house chipmaking. As per previous leaks by blogger Digital Chat Station, the “Greenlan” will have a front-facing look broadly the same as that of its predecessor, the Mate XT.
However, it will come in a varied color palette that includes Black, Red, White, and Purple. Considering that the Mate XT averaged a real sales price of more than 22,000 yuan and a figure of about 500,000 in activated sales, the upgrade of the Mate XTs’ imaging, performance, and overall external experience, along with new colors, should see even greater sales.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Tri-Fold: Groundbreaking Design and Market Maturity
Samsung’s Tri-Fold phone is anticipated to be called “Galaxy Z Tri-Fold” and is speculated to have an innovative dual-inward folding concept, which creates a G-shaped form when it is folded. A look diagram of Samsung’s Tri-Fold phone was also spotted in One UI 8 animation files.
As far as its internal specs go, Samsung’s Tri-Fold phone is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Samsung Mobile Business Head Roh Tae-moon, during a recent interview with The Korea Times this month, suggested that the company may release its first Tri-Fold phone within this year. He explained that the phone is prepared for mass production, though the company still has some doubts about its market demand.
