Samsung continues to lead the Android tablet market with strong performance in Q2 2025

A recent market report by the International Data Corporation (IDC) has indicated that Samsung remains the leading manufacturer of Android tablets globally. The company shipped 7.2 million tablets in Q2 2025, maintaining a robust 18.7% of the worldwide market and retaining its second-ranking position overall, only behind Apple. This positive performance was underpinned by an intelligent foray into key regions and robust expansion despite intense competition in the market.

Samsung’s leadership in the Android tablet market and the brand’s plans

The IDC report says that Samsung’s tablet shipments went up by a good 4.2% from last year. The company’s plan to grow its market in Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe worked well to boost these numbers. Although Samsung’s market share fell a little from the last quarter (Q1 2025), this happened in a fast-growing market that increased by 13.1% from last year. This shows that even as the overall market grew, Samsung’s unit shipments also rose, showing it can get a big part of new consumer demand. At the same time, Apple kept its top position by selling 12.7 million iPads, which gave it a 33% market share.

The Future: Galaxy Tab S11 Series Coming Soon

To keep the momentum going, Samsung is getting ready to release a new range of flagship tablets, the Galaxy Tab S11 series, as soon as next month. Recent rumors indicate the new series will include the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, with a third, budget-friendly Galaxy Tab S10 Lite also on the cards.

Leaks indicate significant improvements for the flagship variants, such as a newer screen, a more powerful processor (likely the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip), more memory configurations (up to 16GB RAM on the Ultra model), and a bigger battery. The tablets will also reportedly have better cameras and Wi-Fi 7 support on the Ultra model. These upgrades will provide Samsung with a competitive device that will help it maintain its lead in the high-end tablet market and continue to dominate the Android space.
