Samsung rolls out One UI 8 Beta 2 for the Galaxy S23 series in India and South Korea

Samsung has initiated the deployment of the second beta build of One UI 8 for the Galaxy S23 lineup. Both South Korean and Indian users now have access to this update nice to see Samsung not bottlenecking rollouts by region for once. The latest firmware, identified as S91xNKSU6ZYI5, primarily targets the elimination of major bugs highlighted by initial beta testers, significantly improving platform reliability and user experience.

Galaxy S23 series One UI 8 Beta 2 is here!

Diving into the specifics, this beta addresses a trio of critical issues that were seriously undermining usability in earlier builds:

  • Samsung DeX Settings Persistence: Previously, a particularly nasty bug was causing Samsung DeX configurations to vanish every time users downloaded a firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) update. For anyone who relies on DeX for desktop-style productivity, having to reconfigure their setup after each update was both disruptive and inefficient. This beta puts that issue to bed, ensuring settings stick post-update, a small victory, but hugely important for power users.
  • Random System Reboots: Few things erode user trust like a device that randomly resets in the middle of use. That’s not just a minor annoyance, it can compromise data, disrupt workflow, or totally derail remote meetings. With this update, that instability is patched, promising more predictable uptime and a boost in overall system integrity.
  • Galaxy Watch 7 Weather App Sync: Cross-device continuity is central to Samsung’s ecosystem plays, so when the weather app on the Galaxy Watch 7 refused to update in real time, it stood out as a glaring oversight. Now, with the fix in place, data is synchronized promptly between handset and wearable, ensuring that real-time weather updates are actually, well, real-time. This demonstrates Samsung’s ongoing efforts to polish the inter-device experience for end users.

It’s worth highlighting that, while bug fixes dominate the changelog, the strategic purpose of this beta goes deeper. Stable performance is non-negotiable in modern UIs, but the fast-tracked response also signals Samsung’s broader intent: close that quality gap on initial rollouts, minimize embarrassing post-launch patches, and reassure both consumers and developers that the software will be as robust as the hardware.

Anyone enrolled in the One UI 8.0 Beta Program can grab this update via Settings > Software update > Download and install. For Samsung, each iterative beta like this is more than a bug hunt; it’s a chance to fine-tune user-facing features and core system stability in a crowded premium space where small missteps get magnified.
