While Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones got the second One UI 7 (Android 15) beta update, that happened on December 16, 2024. Less than two weeks have passed since the first beta arrived, the new update brings a bunch of bug fixes and minor adjustments toward offering better user experience.
Although Samsung has released an official changelog listing the major enhancements, it seems there are other changes that the company hasn’t explicitly talked about.
‘Secured by Knox’ watermark removed
One of the changes to notice is that the app drawer no longer carries the ‘Secured by Knox’ watermark that was present in the first beta firmware, always there at a corner to indicate the device was running beta software. Samsung had previously promised that it would completely remove the watermark in the stable release of One UI 7, though apparently a change of heart saw an earlier implementation than expected arrive with this second beta.
Comparatively speaking, that would mean screenshots by the users reveal the now-arguably cleaner looks in an app drawer free from that watermark-a subtle tweak if at all welcome.
Other Fixes and Improvements
Second beta focuses mainly on bug fixes and system optimizations, according to Samsung in the changelog:
- Bug Fixes: Many issues that appeared in the first beta have been fixed, among which are app stability, system performance, and UI consistency.
- Performance Improvement: Tweaks to enhance responsiveness and smoothness in general system performance.
Undocumented Changes
Along with these, there are other changes that users have started to notice but weren’t on the list of updates provided by Samsung. The one thing that is for sure as the details emerge is that the company has kept on listening to user feedback, implementing further adjustments toward finalizing the beta experience.
Stay Updated
As more users tinker with the second beta firmware, more changes and tweaks are bound to turn up. We’ll keep updating when new features or any updates are discovered.
This update is now available for owners of the Galaxy S24 series who have already joined the beta program, downloadable via Settings » Software Update.
The missing ‘Secured by Knox’ watermark is a surefire indicator that Samsung means business when it comes to fine-tuning the One UI 7 experience for its flagship Galaxy S24 series. With the beta program chugging along, with a focus on bug fixes and integration of user feedback, it’s evident that the path to a seamless rollout of the stable One UI 7 software in the coming months is being laid down.
