The leak reveals two different variants: Galaxy A17 4G, model SM-A175F, with MediaTek’s MT6789 chipset; Galaxy A17 5G, model SM-A176B, with Samsung’s Exynos 1330 processor. The dual-approach strategy enables Samsung to meet different market segments while keeping competitors at bay through regional competition. The finding comes at a time when Samsung’s Galaxy A series line remains growing in popularity among users looking for premium at affordable price points.
Processor Configurations and Performance
The Galaxy A17 4G will use the MT6789 chipset, previously found in the Galaxy A16 as the Helio G99. Industry insiders, however, indicate that A17 can use a newer iteration of this processor, potentially this time being the Helio G100 or even more superior Helio G200. These new chipsets would offer a performance boost along with better power efficiency than those in its previous iterations.
Meanwhile, the 5G model will be packed with Samsung’s Exynos 1330, a tried-and-tested mid-tier processor which strikes a balance between performance and 5G capabilities. The chip has shown consistent performance in prior Galaxy models, with smooth multi-tasking and decent gaming performance.
